music bio

Seth Rothschild is a composer, also a songwriter and music producer. He recently created the Soundscape (sonic landscape / audio accompaniment) for renowned artist, Maya Lin's, new work Ghost Forest. This epic and stunning work opened in Madison Square Park in May, 2021 through November, 2021.

He has worked with many brands including Jack Daniels, Vince Camuto, Tommy Bahama, Coke, Universal and Crown Royal (to name a few) composing the music for ads/commercials, several of which can be viewed in the "music to picture" section of this website. He's also written, produced and/or performed, dozens of songs that have appeared in films and on television. A full list of credits is available by request.

He was a member of the acclaimed indie-rock band, Gingersol, on guitar / keyboards / vocals, and produced and recorded their 3 critically-lauded, full-length releases. They logged thousands of miles and dozens of dollars the first part of the naughts, and shared bills with such artists as Pete Yorn, Kings of Leon, Stars, The Damnwells and The Smithereens. Since G'sol disbanded, he has set up his Little Recordings in Brooklyn, and produces records for other artists, and continues to compose for various media.

In 2015, he released a full length record, "Year of the Second String Quarterback," as well as an EP with frequent partner in crime, Simon Petty, entitled, "A Little Bit of Ink."  (To listen or purchase go to "store".)  The duo completed work on a full album, which was released in June, 2018, with video/single directed by Mark Seliger.

From 2008-2013, Seth was the composer and musical director, for both the After School and the Foster Care Casts, for the Possibility Project - an organization that brings together a diverse group of teenagers. through discussions, trainings, performing workshops, and the creation of a narrative, the cast writes and performs an original musical based on their lives and how they envision change. Seth worked on eight musicals. One show was adapted into the musical film, "Know How." After winning many accolades and awards on the festival circuit, it was released in June 2015.

His record producing has taken him from the stunning Echo Lab, with Matt Pence, in Argyle, TX, to a shitty, vibeless, and probably toxic, wallpaper factory in Hoboken, NJ. No matter what the setting, his work is always inspired:

"A George Martin and Brian Wilson disciple, with an indie-rock soul, Seth's work is enduring because it works on multiple levels: it's dense with tasteful overdubs, sometimes working on a subconscious level -- while it's rife with immediacy and the sense of spontaneity." - Neal Weiss, songwriter/journalist

He's currently working on a full-length solo album which will be mixed in the Fall of 2021.
